I find it hard to believe anything that comes directly from Sony these days. They have been known to 'confuse' (read: mix together) the actual consoles sold to consumers and the units shipped to stores before now. So I am dubious about this figure they have given.

It also puzzles how you can walk into any games store in the UK and buy a PS3 - yet it's still almost impossible to find a Wii. As soon as Nintendo ship them out, they are sold. But the local games stores I have been to still have several launch day PS3s available to buy (one store still has 18 units from launch in stock!)- they can't get rid of them.

I could be wrong, but it sounds like Sony's PR are up to their old tricks again.
