For those of you still looking for this functionality check out Acecads products here: http://www.acecad.com.tw/products.html
The final functionality is the same, but the solution to get there is a bit different.

Also with all these products you need a software like MyScript to get character recognition, PS THIS IS NOT OCR, read more abou the technology and why it is better than OCR on the myscript page.

Anoto is another company with similar technology, however, special paper is needed (as previously mentioned), there are many companies selling their pens.

I was hoping to know when this pen comes out? is it good for drawing as well? & can I use any kind of paper? Such as write a note one notebook paper and have an emailable version too? When is this flippen’ pen gonna be in my aching fingers!!! Sorry I just want the pen. Is the pen going to go for any cheaper than $80? gimme my pen!!!

I use a scanner with free OCR(optical character recognition) software. It converts the image to text on the fly.

If you want to convert a scanner image to text any scanner comes with the software. It is called OCR(optical character recognition). I just write my notes on paper, scan the papers, and the software converts it automatically to text. Of course there are some errors in the converted text but it is about 98% accurrate.

Digital pens are a waste of money unless you are just plain lazy.

I write so much by hand when I’m clients, then I have to translate all this scribble text into emails to send to my boys on what I need done.

It’s a BITCH to do this by hand and it’s bringing me down.

I am jonesin for this pen like a crackhead waiting for someone to invent crack. Read about it in PopSci a few months ago, been strung ever since. Is a July launch date certain? Will they hurt me again? I want my pen!!!!!!!

I’m afraid, if it ever comes, it will not recognize a sheet, on which something is written already. So you will have to sync the versions of a paper by hand.
Anoto performes this but, on the other hand, needs special paper.

Someone should solve this problem…
