Tired of carrying in those groceries for your elderly neighbor all the time? Need to change the flat tire on your 1981 IROC-Z Camaro in the driveway? Don’t bother exerting all your energy on these mundane tasks when you can just pay for a Japanese invention that makes it easier. The HAL-5 exoskeleton can now be rented for just $590 a month for the next year, basically allowing anyone who saw Robocop to live out their fantasy of being a living-cyborg with superhuman strength.
If you had $600 to blow on renting the suit for a month, what would you do with it? I’d probably show up to an 80s dance party and start doing the robot the way it was meant to be done. That and I’d chuck cars left and right for giggles.
Exoskeleton up for rent [Ubergizmo]

i wonder if they do a background check?
Wouldn’t this thing need your own skeleton to support the weight of what you were moving. I’m pretty sure my bones would snap if I tried to pick up a car.
Useless. Until these can make you jump 50 feet in the air and outrun trains I don’t see this as something I would buy.

The thing was made so that it could mostly support what it could carry. It has been stated that there is virtually NO WORKLOAD on the user.
ilya-
Sure it’s useless… except for the part about carrying really heavy stuff that you normally couldn’t, like… a large sofa or piece of furniture you might call movers for.
And it looks frikin’ awesome.
Thanks for this site!

You know what, Ilya? You’re useless.
It’s still too big.
Where can I find its statistics, what is the max load, its time from lock position to fully released, how many G’s can it take before it cracks, what are the limits of the device?
These are questions that need to be answered before a decision can be made.
this device can hold up to 1050 pounds at its max, it can also jump 5 ft. into the air. you can find more info at… http://www.HALexoskeleton.com
