Now, I'll admit that I have failed as a Dad in not being up to date and expecting this shortage. Otherwise I would have started looking for one in June or July, instead of October. Walmart now tells me that a Wii shipment isn't expected until the end of January. So, you know what? I'm done. It's not like Nintendo hasn't had plenty of time to ramp up production. They can shove their Wii. The only question now is whether to buy an XBox 360 or a PS3. The PS3 sixaxis controller isn't at all the same kind of thing as a Wiimote, but is it at least a preliminary indication that this kind of game control will be coming to that platform? I'll have to hope so. In the meantime, my kids will just have to live with the much better graphics and sound they'll be getting. And they'll be able to do some game control by tilting the control around (which we all do anyway). And hey, maybe a blueray DVD player will prove useful after all?
