Fixya is a people's advise site where goodwilling people with lesser or great experience try mostly help you out for free. The sad thing is those volunteers (some try to make a little cash) are exploited by those running the site.
The volunteer gets 10$ on paid advice where FIXYA cashes 18$ or something. Easy money

Askers decide themselves if they accept the advice or not. They can skip 6 answers aceept the last or whatever. A har worker answers 30 questions a day from which 1 in 10 is rated.

Mostly those "experts" are far better ten those expesinve expert sites. And you can look back if your problem has already been discussed.

The sites given above never helped me out.

Hi,

I must say that you are being quite harsh, i used fixya a couple of times, not only did it fix my cell phone, but it cost me just around $12 and not $90, for me that's good service.

Expert exchange is the worst tech support site I've seen. It's actually more a fraud than actual help site.
I lost a lot of money over there - my advice would be to keep your distance from expert-exchange!

Add to my gadget repair arsenal? not even close! This site is full of missleading info and BS answers. Thier live chat experts are a joke. I agree that expert-exchange is a great site, Yahootech, anandtech, askdavetaylor and others.

I've actually had a good experience with Experts exchange and it's easy to get a free membership through their points system, I guess that only works if you are somewhat of an "expert" on something.
