EMI won’t be the only record label to offer higher quality, DRM-free music on iTunes. Apple sent out a little note yesterday to its music partners saying that they, too, would be able to offer DRM-free music and videos on its iTunes store. If the deal is anything like the EMI one, music fans can expect to pay slightly more for the DRM-free music.

And yes, this is a win for consumers. Unlike some folks out there who complained that Apple should be giving us the higher quality music for the same price, I ask this: do you go into a BMW dealer and complain that their prices are higher than Ford’s? No. So why should this be any different?
