Mother’s Day Zune Contest: Come On!

Come on, guys! Free Zunes? For your moms? That’s like free ice cream for kittens! Please send in those entries or your moms will be very unhappy. We’re calling them all right now. Seriously… hear the ringing? Read on for how your mom can win.

For those who’ve sent in pics and stories, keep it up. You’re all horrible human beings who deserve to win. For the rest of you, you should know that we’re having another one of our contests. What you see to the left is a limited edition pink Zune. We’re giving a brand new one away to one of your mother’s. Mom’s like things, and since Mother’s day is approaching, why not give her a thing she’ll like? You win this contest, this Zune is yours.

Whoever has the geekiest mom wins. We want a photo and a reason why she’s geeky enough to enjoy something like a full-featured media player. The best three entries will be put up for vote by the CrunchGear readers. C’mon, mugs, it’s better than that Paris Hilton-branded perfume you got her last year. What’s it called, Rich Slutbag?

Send your entries to contest at crunchgear dot com with the subject “My Mamma Wants a Zune!” The contest goes through May 1st, when we’ll post the top 3 for 3 days of voting. Then we’ll announce the winner, and there will be much rejoicing.

Good luck!

  • This is a really funny contest – you can’t even give these Zunes away hahahhahha

Doesn’t matter the color, it’s still a piece of junk with no market direction. Microsoft deserves as much for creating such an un-innovative loss leader whose only right to existence is a pile of cash they have in reserves. They could have done so much, but chose to take a very safe route and hence, are paying for it now (as are the shareholders).

ps: now I know their strategy for getting to 1M Zunes in the marketplace… give them away – which so far doesn’t seem to be producing any better results!

  • Microsoft is so desparate to get to that 1 million mark by June? I bet they make sure they “ship” the 1 millionth Zune by then straight to the trash heap, just to claim…you guessed it 1 million sold. They don’t care where they go, just as long as they “ship” the number, since that’s what they go by, not actual sales.

  • J BIGGS; Think about this for 1 moment…. You are not only asking us to
    hold (our)
mothers out for ridicule,–your idea of entertainment. HA! Then you want a picture as well! Let us see a picture of YOUR Geeky mother, who raised the likes of you, with so much sensitivity. As my mother died less than a year ago, I am personally very insulted!

Makes me wonder if it was your lack of personality that killed her eh?

I bet… not only do you offload a piece of junk taking up room in your office but each one shipped counts towards the 1M goal! Everybody wins… except consumers and shareholders.

I hope microsoft learns from this tragedy which is Zune and actually brings something innovative to the market that DOES re-invent this marketplace which is becoming a bit stale.

  • My story it’s about a mom. It’s about a woman that wants to be a mom. However, she was diagnosed with a disease that does allow her to give birth. I hope this does not auotmatically make you move on to the next person. Barbara is a wonderful and caring person. She is invovled heavily with the church and is a person that doesn’t stop giving. She always puts other’s before herself. She feels guilty if she buys herself something nice. Please take her into consideration. Each Mother’s Day she gets upset because she can’t have kids and she isn’t a Mother. I would just like to put a smile on her face. If she could have kids she would be a great mother.
