Altec Lansing iMV712: Best iPod Dock This Week
by Josh Goldman on May 2, 2007

an appearance back in January at CES, and if you’re loving your 5G iPod, it’s certainly not a bad way to spend $350. And, it’s finally hit the streets, so you can actually buy one now. Today. In consumer electronic stores or online at Altec Lansing.

The company claims it can “deliver powerful, concert-like sound and a true cinematic video experience.” That is of course if you don’t turn it up really loud, your seated close to the widescreen 8.5-inch LCD, and your expectations are only to improve the experience of watching it on your iPod itself. Seriously though, from our brief time with it on the noisy floor of CES, the iMV712 looked pretty stellar.

The 3-inch neodymium speakers and built-in 4-inch subwoofer should supply plenty of audio for a small room. The screen is certainly better than staring at the 2.5-inch iPod’s display for extended viewing. And the included remote lets you control the unit’s volume, treble and bass and the iPod’s forward/reverse, pause, menu, play and stop controls.
