We’ve told you about the forthcoming ROkR e6 Linux-based Moto smartphone before, and while it’s been months since it passed the FCC’s muster, we still haven’t seen it much. Today, though, we’ve got a little video of the beast in action, and it appears as if the specs we’d heard (2-Megapixel auto-focus camera, Bluetooth, QVGA touchscreen, etc) were on the mark.
It’s exiciting that Moto’s not using Windows Mobile for its smartphones but making its own Linux-based OS. Samsung is rumored to be doing the same thing, but hasn’t had the speed Moto’s enjoying. While we’d like to see anyone make an alternative to WinMo, the jury’s still out on if Linux is the answer.
That being said, if it’s done right, Linux can do anything. And if you like smartphones and you like Linux, you’ll like the video after the jump.

To use GPRS 1st activate Gprs for ur no then get the settings and then before opening browser just click the bar which shows battery and antenna there u have option for GPRS there u hav to enable than u can use GPRS.

Hi satya, u might not be getting the headset. This particular handset has to 2 packs premium and normal. If u go for normal u wont get it. Where as premium one has it. So if u want it ask for a premium one…
Hi! vijay that’s very simple. Go to main menu, selet setup the first option u see is ring style>alert styles>(select any profile except vibrate& silent)>click on edit. And there u r….click on the blue icon and select any tone u want. Hope this helps u

It’s really nice (sexy) phone, with useful features but there is lack of some thing, like :
Ringing sound come from Phone Speaker even I connect Headset,
When I listening to MP3 ringing sound have 2-3 second delay!
Keys are not really configurable (4 bottom)
No zoom in Viewer (for Images)
No option to view Open Document Format like ODF and ….
Can’t disable beep Sound when connecting headset or receiving Bluetooth and even startup sound.

Do the following: Menu> Settings> USB Mode > Mass Storage. Then just connect the phone to pc using the usb cable supplied with the phone. It will work fine.

This video review sucks…. but the phone is awesome. I own one, the one thing the camera lacks is a flash, but even without it, it takes decent pictures, it will however never eliminate a dedicated digital camera. It does need a full office suite than just a viewer, as sometimes you might need to write more than just a note using the notepad. A quick access to the notepad would be great, rather than having to go to the application menu to find it.
When I got my phone, it was in Chinese, you have to use some educated guesswork to find the language settings to switch the phone over to english. Bluetooth however is not as the manual says, you need to either turn off your bluetooth device or turn off bluetooth when you want to disconnect a device you have paired (No disconnect option in the popup menu)
These however are minor, the phone is great, touch screen works, handwriting recognition works ok, although the palm OS is still better when it comes to handwriting using palm script. This phone does enough that you do not need to walk around with a PDA and a cell phone, which saves me some weight. It sleek and cool so others will be envious of you… lol. The music player is Real Player, so you do not have that sucky WMP (it Linux it would not have WMP) and also no need to have any special software to transfer songs, just drop it to your SC card in the phone (it acts like a flash drive when plugged in via USB). It can function as a USB Camera to your PC but it does not seem to work through a desktop Linux OS as it not recognized as such. There a lot more plus about the phone… but in short it way better than my previous phone, the razr V3.
Oh one more thing…. the full HTML web browser on it is great, no more WAP browser. The Web Browser is Opera.

Heres how you can install iphone theme on your rokr :
Installing iPhone.lin Theme
*Requires LinLoader installed
Installing MPKG
Download: MPKGinstaller
1. Unrar the file. You will see it consists of a folder called .system.
2. Plug in the phone, then use Windows Explorer to copy the entire old .system folder from the SD card to a safe place on your PC (so can recover if necessary). [If you can not see the .system file then you do not have “View hidden files” on].
3. Copy the entire .system folder from the rar file to replace the one on your SD card.
4. Unplug the phone from the PC and restart it. You should see a MPKG icon under Application Launcher on your phone.
5. You do NOT run this program by clicking it - rather you open files with extension *.pkg by holding the stylus on the file until a small menu displays. Select “Open With” and select MPKG.
[If you have already installed some programs on your SD card before installing MPKG then you should uninstall then before doing the above otherwise you will not be able to access them anymore (phone doesn't find them). You can reinstall them when complete]
Installing LINLOADER **MPKG must be installed**
Download: LinLoader
MPKG must be installed first as you need mpkg to install linloader.
1. Download the loader_A1200.pkg file from above
2. Copy the file to the root folder of your SD card (Make sure extension says .pkg - not .mpkg)
3. Unplug the phone from the PC then use the phone’s File Manager to find the file.
4. Hold the stylus on the file until a small menu displays. Select “Open With” and choose MPKG. You should hear a bell indicating the program has loaded.
5. Turn the phone off and on and you should see a Loader icon (a yellow smiley) appearing under Application Launcher.
Download: iPhone 2.5
1) Download the theme
2) Extract to desired location ( desktop etc )
3) Drag and drop “themes” folder into memory card root
4) Unplug from computer, go into File Manager and find the iPhone.lin file
5) Tap with your stylus and hold it, in the context menu, select ” Open With”
6) Select Loader ( has a smiley face icon )
7) Wait 2-3 minutes ( just to be safe, since installing theme is the easiest way to brick phone )
Cool Restart the phone( the iPhone theme shutdown screen should show up )
9) You’re done
10)Run default.lin (included in this theme folder) to revert to default before running another theme
NOTE:Make sure you have back up..
DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK…
