John Davidson over at 1Up was woken up by his kids early one morning. The brats wanted to play some Xbox 360 and being a good father, he kindly obliged. So the two children set off to the living room, where inside an entertainment unit, lay an Xbox 360 and a Playstation 3. Now allow me to go off on a tangent for a second:
In the piece, John says that the 360 can be played with the entertainment center’s doors shut, because the heat it radiates isn’t too terrible to cause a fire or anything. But when that PS3 is on, you’d better keep those goddamned doors open or something fierce and fiery is going to occur.
Back to the story. John’s older son put on the Xbox 360 and started to play the game Cars whilst his younger child decided to “pretend play” with a PS3 SIXAXXISISISISS controller. Sure enough, the doors were shut, the kid started up the PS3, and like a club when a Nelly remix-track comes on, it got hot up in that entertainment center. The 360 stopped working, Dad was informed and eventually determined that the PS3 indeed did kill that Xbox 360 by overheating it. So remember kids, next time your dad has both of the next-gen systems (Wii doesn’t count! Silly GameCube with a remote control!) and lets you play with them, take it one at a time.

PS3 FTW….or FTL…depends on how you look at it I guess…
Wii=”silly gamecube with remote control” . That would be the funniest comment I’ve read if it wasn’t so damn true.
uh, the ps3 doesnt get hot, the 360 has no problem overheating on its own, that thing is the real grill, i cook eggs on it
I guess Apple had it right after all switching from IBM to Intel… the watts per process is way too high for these machines… next weeks news, PS3 takes out their cell and puts in Quad Core 2.33Ghzs! I would be interested to see what the output compares between these different technologies (PowerPC, Cell, Intel Quad).
Jon
watts per process? you are not even making sense
It’s 4am here informed… I am allowed to make no sense ;-) It was watts per something that Apple gave as the reason for the switch… can’t find the word but the closet I could come up with was process… same difference.
Jon
@ jon, understood, i retract my previous statement, but one question:
what are you doing up at 4 am and not drunk?
Hi informed, trying to win this weeks contest – I won a Nikon D40 here over Christmas (I know, I still owe you guys a report – taking lots of pics… coming soon) here on CrunchGreat… I don’t like comment spamming this board anymore then you enjoy reading my rants but hey… they asked for it and have something I want ;-) I didn’t have a camera before CrunchGear and I don’t have a MP3 player neither… figure it’s time I won one hahhahaha
Jon
I forgot to mention informed, I very rarely drink (alcohol) – maybe had a beer about 3 months ago… as such, these late nights are easily recoverable during an afternoon nap. I have a good boss hahahhaha
Jon
ps: I know I am making progress when my comments hit the “Your comment is awaiting moderation” brick wall that CrunchGear has… thanks for the break guys!
@ Informed
Do yourself a favor and jump off a bridge. You are a typical asshat user with no knowledge on either system.
@ token, lol, lol, lol, i own all and play all so there
@token, and telling someone to jump off a bridge seems a little extreme, maybe you have some problems and feel the need to be a fanboy, but myself, i like video games (all systems) i cant wait for halo 3, or mgs 4 or even metroid. o and asshat? im not too sure what that means
well you see an asshat is when you grab a monkey’s rear end, shave it off, depending on species hairless or not, and then take the cheeks and place them over your head, the next time it rains or is too sunny the monkey, “asshat” will surely keep you dry and away from the heat, and if fresh enough, the blood will keep you cool in the warm summer days
that is all… -puke free since 03-
The PS3 looks like a big George Forman grill, i can just imagine myself cooking come burgers on it lol
The 360 is more sleek but the designers could have been a bit more innovative with the outside of the case, like a green xbox 360 logo on the top, some liken it to a dell optiplex desktop and i agree.
I have a 360 and i dont have any issues with noise and heat, mind u i ise it in a well ventilated rack. The only thing that annoys me sometimes it takes long t lg into my live account when i boot the console up and i have to wait for this b4 i can play anything. Apart from that its a good console
