Traditional graffiti, eyesore that it is, means having to spray paint the sides of buildings with tags, the graffiti artist’s signature. Audio Bombing is a new take on the practice that uses cassette tape as the medium. You record whatever you want to say onto the audio tape, then rip the tape itself out of the cassette. Then you place this tape all over town—on building walls, sidewalks, etc. Using a special magnetic head to play the audio back then completes the tag. This is actually one of the more interesting things I’ve seen in a while, though I don’t know if this will change my mind to thinking that graffiti is an art. ‘Cause it’s not.
There’s a video of this wackiness inside.
Audio Bombing is the creation of several University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign students. Me gusta mucho.
