OQO Model 2 Gets HSDPA’d

Over on Flickr, user tnkgrl got fed-up with the EVDO card her OQO Model 2 came with. So what’s a girlfriend to do when she wants a little HSDPA in her life? Mod the hell out of her computer, that’s what. Tnkgrl went ahead and ripped out that EVDO like a loose hangnail and replaced it with a brand spankin’ new HSDPA card.
Doesn’t look like it took too much work, but for those of you not comfortable around wires or voiding your warranty, you might want to stay away from this gruesome photoset.

tnkgrl sure is smart…..why not tear out a wireless card that serves at least 200 million people in the US (wireless companies measure coverage by how many people [pops] they cover) for a card that serves about 100 million….she must not leave her couch that often

@knowsthediff, I guess you’re not aware that there’s over 2 billion people using GSM worldwide, so that by hacking an unlocked quad-band EDGE + tri-band HSDPA card into my OQO Model 02 I now have wireless data access in 180 countries simply by inserting the SIM card from any of 400 carriers…
Who’s the US-centric couch potato now?
