contact-us.gifOk, maybe it’s not a little green fairy, but it is a notification that tells you to unplug your phone when its charged. They’re basically saying that this little notification will save save “enough electricity to power 85,000 homes a year.” It will appear in the 1200, 1208, and 1650 and is targeting India, China, and Latin America. Us Americans can suck up all the energy we want.

It’s a start, Nokia. Thanks for taking some initiative.

  • its a start??? my two year old moto blinks like crazy and reads CHARGING COMPLETE. also my archos av400 (yeah its old!!!) tells me when its done charging to. I use both these on a daily basis and they never fail me.

  • Unplug the phone when it’s charged? So you sit around all day not doing anything until you have something to do and when you take your phone it’s almost dead because you weren’t charging it because you unplugged it because it was ‘already charged’

I usually charge mine at night when I go to bed. I’m not going to wake up in the middle of the night to unplug it once it’s been fully charged just to wake up and find it not charged anymore when I need it.

(no it doesn’t die that quick…but it surely isn’t fully charged anymore!)

  • Hmm… that’s not quite what the article says. Nokia is “encouraging people to unplug the charger once the battery is full.” The charger is the culprit they are targeting since it still sucks power even when the phone isn’t connected to the charger.

  • Ah I get it. I thought it was saying unplug the charger from the phone… Well that makes sense, guess I could do that. Hurray for saving!
