Yeah this phone may be great but the company sucks. I’m pissed got it on a friday through the mail. Talked to THREE..(yeah three) phone representatives and each one lied to me about small (but still important) details and they told me finally that it takes up 3 BUSINESS days for the phone to activate. In the 3 hours i’ve had this it already froze and turned off on me once. Hate Helio…OH and the SIDEKICK3 is 10x better then this phone my myspace is http://www.myspace.com/razman89 trust me I’m going straight back to the sidekick3 after this phone or possibly the i-phone. If anyone wants to ask me a Q about the differences the sidekick might not have video but everthing else is soo much better.
Like you said the phone is Great! I just got my Ocean 8 days ago and this device is sweet! Bad ass device! I did have to call customer care to because I had to leave a deposit, but overall good experience.
My ocean was only $220, with no activation fee, I’ll be getting $25 off my bills for the first 4 months and free tv service (1 month, i think)

i was thinkin about jumpin ship from vzw to helio or cingular… Im from NC and i’m ALWAYS loosing calls. Does helio have a problem with dropped calls that you guys know of? let me know before i jump ship
Well. I got the Helio Heat, had it for six days, then I canceled the plan and will be returning the handset to Helio shortly.
Why? Three reasons: 1) the Helio Heat while being a beautiful device suffers from really short battery life (about 6 hrs w/ doing anything but talking) when it is rated at being 3 hrs talking time w/ 8 standby. Buggy internet quality. 2) Helio, despite advertising that they wont nickel and dime you, do just that w/ tons of hidden fees and fees they tack on w/o evening telling (no not taxes). 3) While their customer support is responsive it is far from helpful, in fact it isn’t until you threaten to cancel that they actually start to listen to you.
So I will be returing it, going back to my pay as you go Virgin Mobile for a while as I investigate other plans.
But people, stay away from Helio. While their handsets are beautiful, and maybe the others function much better than the Heat, their billing practices are borderline criminal.

I have no idea about anything electronic, I am more of a shoes, clothing, or yoga girl. So thanks! Now I know not 2 do it, apparently they will be as bad as what i have now, Cricket… bleh…. $500 on a phone with them and they keep screwing me…

I got my Ocean 2 weeks ago and love it! I dumped my vzw razr. Much better rates and connectivity with Helio. I wasn’t much of a texter til this. Ocean makes it super easy to type out a msg and more important, it gets there!

I’m looking into buying a used Helio Drift off of eBay, but just for the GPS capabilities. Does anyone know if the phone needs to be activated to receive GPS signals and/or use the gps programs?
