The current version of iTunes, 7.1.1, has been cracked by the creators of QTFairUse6. QTFairUse6 allows for you to strip your iTMS-purchased songs of their nasty DRM. Currently, the software is only for Windows, so us Mac OS X users will have to wait until someone makes a version for us. Chances are Apple has already been informed and iTunes 7.1.2 is in the works as an update. So if you hate DRM and want to be a pirate, download QTFairUse6 and get strippin’.

  • Aw, Mac’s left out again. Shucks… Pfft, and you guys boast about being hack proof with no virus… Windows may have viruses, but there’s also the good crackers that gets us free stuff, yays!

  • Holy crap I need this. I was just at a friend’s on the weekend discussing how SHIT iTunes is, especially because the music we wanted to get from my iPod is actually my own music that I produced. Arg! On the other hand, this same system protects my muisc from being stolen, and my cheques remain meager, but at least I get something. Dilemma?

  • HAHAH! omagowds in ur face.
I’ll tell you how it feels to have lots of free-to-use-however-the-hell-I-want music.
But what with Apple getting all of this (deserved) attention, I wouldn’t be surprised if great crackers started coming over to Macs.
Besides, they can run Windows too…

  • DRM is ancient history. Someone tell please tell Apple to wake up.

  • It’s not history yet. But it will be soon. ;)

  • Umm… Apple has had DRM free high bit raid (256kbps) AAC music on their site for some time. Apple’s CEO has even advocated that to the labels… The labels are starting to wake up, so hopefully soon, Apple will be allowed to sell good quality (ie 256kbps) DRM free music, for all the labels.
