I would like to see a lawsuit against them. I have the same problems with this printer. I've replaced the print head four times in three years. I've replaced the entire printer twice in that same time. I dislike calling tech support for all the same reasons you stated. Now they are telling me it is out of warranty and I need to purchase a new print head out of pocket. I'd like my money back.

I agree about the lawsuit. I also am having the same problem. I am loosing more ink than I am saving. The print heads cost a fortune.

This is a defective printer.

Some one should get a lawyer and sue the bastards. Count me in on the lawsuit. I want my money back.

I too have had nothing but problems with this printer. It's the worst I've ever bought and it is poorly designed.

We have been through 3 print heads and have had to return the entire printer twice.

Now it is out of warranty and we are being told we need to purchase another printer head.

Kodak's solution? Well since it is out of warranty and Kodak failed to inform us of the design flaws, we now have to pay out of pocket for a new print head and also new ink.

The flaw is this: The ink cartridge drains downward in to the print-head through several sponges. The ink drops down via gravity.

If you do not use your printer often then the print head becomes saturated with ink. As you print you will start to see bleeding of different colors and lines on your photos and print outs.

Kodak is lame. They told me that if I do not print every month that the cartridge will become "dirty" and that it will need to be replaced.

If I knew what I know now, I would have never purchased this piece of crap.

If you are in the market for a printer, spend the extra money on a laser color. Also stay away from Kodak products.

I just cannot believe how awful the tech support was! I was on hold several times. The guy always said I will be on hold for 2 min, but of course it was much longer. He asked me the same question 6 times. By the 4th time I wanted to say, ok are you actually listening to me now?. When I asked him a question I took a good 30 seconds for him to answer. And all he could tell me to do was to turn the printer off/on again and make sure the ink was all the way in (couldnt print). Did this guy really go through some type of training to do this job. My grandma who has never touched a computer could have told me this much. What good is a product that dosent work and the tech support cannot even help! Needles to say, I will never purchase a kodak product again or recommend it to anyone else. Im ok with the occ. break down if tech support could just walk you through the issue. Instead they just add to the frustration!

I could not have said that better myself. Im also pretty fed up with Kodak tech support. As if its not enough that the printer wont work, the tech support guy was completly useless. I was also on hold for most of the time, he asked me the same question 6 times, and when I asked him a question, it took him at least a full minute to reply sometimes. And Im sure kodak has no problem paying this guy to do the half-assed job he does because they win when he is not able to do a damn thing for you except for suggest that you buy more kodak stuff to fix the issue. What a scam!

The 'Kodak 5300 easyshare all in one' is the single worst piece of junk I've ever had the misfortune to own. The first colour photo printed was excellent, however I thought that printers were supposed to do more than copy in their lifetime. After contacting Kodak and downloading the recommended firmware there was no difference whatsoever to the print quality, despite Kodak's assurance that this would solve the problem. The print heads have been re-installed 3 times and the printer deep cleaned on a regular basis - BUT still no difference. As for the ink - the 5300 is the most uneconomical printer I've ever used! As an experiment I installed new black and colour cartridges two weeks ago and used the printer to print about 20 single page monochrome text documents - one would assume that for this only the black ink would be used however the printer is indicating black ink at 40% and coloured ink at 30% - HOW CAN THIS BE!!!
The whole sales drive for this piece of junk was that it will save money on ink - I THINK NOT! This must be contrary to the Trades Descriptions Act

Hi Jack, I have news for you.... The printers dont work. Ihave had a 5300 for over a year , and I have NEVER been able to print ANYTHING with it.
All It does is make LOUD NOISE over and over and over again. I cant tell you how great the pictures look or what a great job it does printing documents because the p.o.s. refuses to do anything.

I purchased my printer in dec 2007, it came as a bonus with a kodak camera. it was a great bundle around $279 for both. I love the camera 15x zoom. I have tried to use the printer 5 or 6 times since then and I have never been able to print a single page with it.
i bought two of each cartrages thinking that they are dry, but nothing ever prints. It has never worked. It does not connect with my computer, it does not make copies, it does not scann, all it does is make noise loud noise. Its a piece of junk!! I thought that I was the only one with the problem. I thought that I didnt know how to work it. I should have just kept my cheap lexmark printer it was only $23.99 and it worked. Now I know that its not me. This should be a class action lawsuit. I dont need the $25 we would probably get , but Kodak should recall its piece of s**t.

I have had my Aio 5300 for two years now and Kodak has just sent me printhead #4. In the 24 months that I have had it I have only been able to use it 6 months total. What a piece of junk. I refuse to buy Kodak anymore, I'm back to Cannon.

I have a 5300 and am generally happy with it--good quality prints and affordable ink. Yes, there have been problems with the printhead every few months, but all I had to do was go on line, go through a fairly straightforward diagnostic process, and Kodak shipped a new [free] printhead that arrived in 3 or 4 days. No call to India required.

Sorry to hear you've had problems. The printers are great when they're working properly. If you're still interested in trying to fix the one you have, send me an email at connect@kodak.com and I'll do what I can to help you out.

I just had to comment on this printer. I have owned many Kodak products and this is the biggest piece of junk I have ever purchased. It doesn't respond to anything without a problem. When printing photos the color is horrible and ink was just installed, so thats not the problem. I paid $153.00 for this poor excuse for a printer. I have had nothing but problems since I bought it. Save yourself the trouble and pay the extra money for the ink because it runs out really fast. I am getting rid of it and buying a HP or Lexmark. The Kodak name today is not the quality it once was. I will never buy another Kodak product.

This printer is the biggest piece of crap I have ever owned. Like many other faithful Kodak owners, I purchased this printer because of the name. My mother-in-law, my neice, and a good friend of mine also purchased this printer. All of us have had the same problems, documents are faded and have lines through them and pictures look like a very old negative. Now my printer acts like it is printing but the paper is blank. I try to calibrate and it tells me that the calibration page cannot be detected. I don't have the patience to be on the phone with someone that I can't understand and who is halfway around the world. This printer should be recalled and replaced for free. DO NOT BUY THIS *&%$^#$% PRINTER.
