I can’t tell you the number of times people have come up to me asking how to recover phone numbers because they dropped their phone in the toilet. Maybe they should stop using their phones while on the crapper. Either way, anyone with AT&T can now start using their phone without worrying about losing valuable information thanks to Mobile Backup.
The application is downloaded to your phone and then constantly starts backing up your data automatically at the time of your choosing. Your info can be viewed online for recovery, which means if you’re on vacation and need to make a call, you’re good to go. The service is apparently available now for the cost of $1.99 a month. I was going to use a “small price to pay” sentence here, but BGR beat me to it. Damn.

Verizon offers this for free. It does not however ‘constantly’ backup numbers. AFAIK, one runs the application to backup numbers to the Verizon website.

Why launch a paid-for service when there are great free ones out there like Zyb (www.zyb.com) and others doing a great job?
