It has exactly the same scenario. Powerful hardware which developers can't take advantage of, lack of good games, ugly as sin... There was an article on Digg a while ago from 1997 which spoke of how the PS2 would be a failure yet it has been selling more than even the next-gen systems. I just hope Sony does something sooner or later to pull themselves out of this rut. The PS3 is going to be basically the same as the PS2. It has exactly the same scenario.
