I don't think they mean "It's not selling because third party developers are slow and sucky!", it's more "Don't worry about slow sales, games are coming soon". So maybe it's a good thing they're admitting there's no (good) games out quite yet.

And to me, Kutaragi was a problem this time around. From all the articles I've read on the subject, he just had bad communication skills to publishers and even the rest of the Sony game development, market branches, etc etc. He did great for the first 2 consoles, but I don't know what happened this time.

They could have waited another year (this Fall/Winter) before releasing the PS3 and they'd have a huge launch with a lot of games...but there are those some 3rd party developers that had their games ready at launch, and by the time it did come out, they'd be out dated. Sure they could spend a year 'polishing' it up, but that'd just be a waste of money.

Sony is a big company with experience (good and bad), I wouldn't forget about em just yet.

Sony has already placed blame on Kutaragi and forced his resignation (http://crunchgear.com/2007/04/26/ken-kutaragi-resigns-weeping-heard-in-solid-snakes-condo/). So why look for more excuses? Blaming the lack of games is a bad idea as the PS3, and other systems, need the support of third-party publishers. Even if the lack of games is the reason for poor sales, saying so will only result in even fewer titles for the system. I guess Sony's game development teams better get to work populating games for the system since third-party publishers may look to other consoles to publish on.

I don't think it's That ugly, but I think it could have looked cooler than what they went with.

I do agree with the article, and SCEA, in that it's not selling because of the lack of media. I've checked game sites for 'new releases' for the PS3, and there's nothing (good) coming out until Fall...and summer just started! But once those games do come out I'm definitely buying a PS3, price drop or not, just because of the 15 exclusive titles and other highly anticipated titles coming out.

But all of this is old and obvious news which I've stated multiple times before. But the PS3 is not dead yet!

It's butt ugly, overpriced, and late to the game. Sort of like a 50 year old hooker with lip cancer.
