If you just have one or two gadgets, you could always put them in your pockets
My Treo 650 is about as brick-ish of a gadget (um... maybe a zune) as any of us should be carrying around and it goes in my pocket.
But i don't wear my pants as tight as Matt Hickey either.

Just don't get a holster. I vote for the man-bag over the holster.

ThinkGeek seems to be getting all the publicity for this cool little holster, however this is not their product.

This is the "hipHolster" from UrbanTool

It's from a company based in Australia I believe and comes in many more varieties and sizes than the 2 on TG. There are some interesting designs, colors, and variations.

I think this is useful and have thought of picking one up. However, at no point in time do I want to look like I have a gun at my side in the Bronx or any of the boroughs.

"pride, virginity, etc. " almost fell off my seat on that one. I agree that this is quite, umm, geeky to say the least.

More then 1 gadget? c'mon iPod and cell are pretty average, and the occasional thumb drive for school, but easier to toss it in the backpack.

What!@TF? "#

"If you ask me, anyone who’s carrying around more than one gadget is a douche." Someone seriously needs to go to remedial geek training. Yes DEFINITELY YES, wearing your phone on your belt DOES makes you a douche.

Lets see - blackberry (or a cell if you are a newb), a palm or equivalent, maybe a PSP and a digi-cam at least - thats four. On a good day I might have TWO pockets. My average golf/polo only has one. T-shirts on weekends mostly have ZERO (a few have one).

Oh, and wearing a fanny pack to the office probabaly will make you a douche (or worse, unemployed).

Sorry, putting the cell in backpocket is fairly painful. Front pockets probably are worse (I dont have cell-reflecting undies yet - or ever).

So what is the hangup over the holster?

Well I wouldn't say that anyone carrying more than one gadget is a douche, but certainly anyone carrying gadgets in this gadget holster IS a douche.

I regularly go out with my phone and a PSP, that's two gadgets. On my previous gig they gave me a Blackberry so that was three. Week-end trips means bringing the digital camera so that's four.

Of course I'd rather kill myself that be caught wearing a hip holster or worse - the matching cell shoulder holster:

But then that's why they invented messenger bags:
