Longhorn Lives!

Windows Vista has been more of a problem than a useful operating system since its release. If you’re looking for something not as flawed and with a little extra spice, why not give Longhorn a try? The original project team has revived it and has finished the code so that what was supposed to be Vista now is available for all to download. Longhorn Reloaded is full of great features like WinFS, rich visual effects, and a sweet login screen.
The core of the OS is based on Windows 6.0.4074 and was originally released about 3 years ago at a developers conference Microsoft had. Oh yeah, to use Longhorn, you’ll need this serial number: TCP8W-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-99FBW. I suppose a download link wouldn’t hurt either, eh? You can snag a torrent here or you can hit the link below.

Would this ‘Longhorn’ not have the same compatibility problems as Vista?

I think I got about 142 Kb downloaded before I realized “Wait a minute. I don’t want this.” Then I stopped the download and went about my day.

Why would Microsoft let the original Longhorn developers keep working on a project and dump out the results free to the public? Give me a break. This is probably somebody’s spam-wear they’re trying to get you to install via false promises.

The original developers werent working on it, the article is wrong in that respect, a group of developers at joejoe.org took on the project and started writing programs and patches to build upon the code.
