“Unlimited” iPhone Plan Coming Soon To AT&T?

Glenn Laurie, president of national distribution for AT&T, is saying that an unlimited package is in the works for AT&T customers who want to purchase the iPhone. Makes sense due to all the rich features that use the Internet on the iPhone, right? On the issue of web browsing, Laurie says:
“I think it will be great for us, and here’s why. One of the things with this device — people are going to be asked to have an unlimited package — people are going to have to have a package with us to browse.”
Basically, it’s like AT&T’s version of the Sidekick plan that T-Mobile offers. I think AT&T will have to strongly market this “unlimited” plan they speak of to all iPhone customers. The problem is price. Do you really feel like shelling out an extra $20-40 a month after paying $500 for a cellphone? Probably not.

When the orignal razr came out it was around $500 with activation. Look how well it sold. If the interface on the iPhone is as good as the demo’s, I wouldn’t mind paying that much for the phone along with the service.

What good is a feature-rich iPhone without the ability to use all the features? Everyone will want the unlimited plan if it’s reasonably priced–a no-brainer!

I found out from a cingular employee that the “unlimited” internet service package is going to cost $30 a month. Is going to be just like the sidekick from T-mobile, but they only charge $20 a month. BUT then again it is NOT an iphone!

Apple should have gone with sprint. Now everyone who buys the iPhone is going to be shelling out money to the AT&T overlords who let the NSA spy on everyone on the AT&T network.
Also the price for internet sucks. At sprint you can get a Treo with phone service ($40) + unlimited internet ($15) for a lot less than AT&T is going to be screwing over the Apple customers for every month.
I dont work for sprint, I’m just pissed at the iPhone deal because I hate AT&T so much. (if you couldn’t tell .. lol )

I am 90% sure AT&T is going to screw Apple customers over for the service. I hate AT&T too and if it wasn’t that I like Apple more than I hate AT&T, I would not be even considering buying an iPhone. The day I get the iPhone will be a great day in my life, the day I sign my soul away to AT&T for service will be one of the worst. I intend to go out kicking and screaming all through the process of becomming an AT&T customer.

First of all, the iPhone will have Wi-Fi, do we really need to have internet access while walking through the mall? Use the Wi-Fi for free, duh. Who doesn’t like AT&T. I was with Sprint for 21 days and regretted. I moved to Cingular and could not be happier. Lastly, who cares if the phone has 3G or not, 3G is only offered in a very limited area, so like me, it does not matter if it has 3G or not b/c I would not be able to access it. Some people need to stop spazzing and look at what it is you are complaining about. Oh mon dieu.

Logan-
Why would Apple go with a CMDA network? Sort of defeats the purpose don’t you think?

Well at least U.S.A. citizens DO have the choice to buy or not to buy. Here in the North-North America we don’t have that choice. I just hope the CAN dollar keeps the rising trend so when the 2 years pass while waiting for the iPhone, our higher dollar might lower the obscenely priced plan I am sure we would be paying now if it were available.

I worked for AT&T for 5 years in management and just recently left them. You cannot possibly imagine or fathom the disorganization and arrogance in that company. I couldn’t take it anymore. They are a protected monopoly and filled with unmotivated employees that are looking for a “safe” place to work until they retire. They aren’t exactly getting the cream of the crop; this is true from the bottom to the top position. Without the monopoly protection they would go out of business in 12 months. The humorous part is that the management has lulled themselves into thinking that they are really something. No, the federal government has removed your competition whether you want to admit that or not. I would suggest you go elsewhere to find your phone/internet/tv hookups. It would be hard to do worse than AT&T in my opinion.

You’re correct about that, Bill. Very disorganized and full of “managers” who barely made it through high school. Oh yes, as well as “floor managers” — a designation which actually means regular representative who is given the task of appeasing angry customers. What a joke.

I don’t really have much to say about the iphone, i think it looks pretty cool and i plan on getting it without the internet plan. I just noticed all of your comments and felt I should leave one too. first of all, jules, ATT has 43,000 cell sites and 63 million customers, and your complaining? what company could possibly out-perform AT&T? And bill, AT&T is doing huge things right now, and the fact they hold all rights to the IPhone is a huge advantage for them. Stop complaining people, get over yourselves, AT&T is a great company and I couldn’t be happier with their service…you people bitch way too much.
