Late Friday night the hippest MVNO next to Helio filed for Chapter 11 due to rapid growth and a back-end infrastructure that was unable to handle its 200K subscriber base. Amp’d claims they just need to restructure, but maybe it’s because they owe Verizon $33 million and a total debt of around $100 million. I’m no finance guy, oh wait, yes I am, but that’s probably why Amp’d is filing for bankruptcy protection.
Whew. $100 million is a lot of bucks.
I bought a $200 some odd dollar phone from them several months ago. Ater only a couple of months the already bad customer servive turned into terribly god-awful, next to impossible customer service. I repeatedly askrd them if they were going out of business because they were acting like a company that was. They told me no. Yesterday they sent me a text message telling me I had less than 48 hours to find a new provider, I’m screwed! And I still haven’t gotten my $100 rebate, can anyone here say LAWSUIT?
I was pretty proud of Amp’d Mobile besides their customer service until a few days ago, I mean I was getting live tv for free but maybe thats part of the reason they seem to be going under… just 1 hour and 15 minutes left of service, and $45 to burn…
