HTC Touch At A Glance
by Vince Veneziani on June 5, 2007

Just got back from an HTC Touch event at the Bryant Park Hotel here in NYC. Had a chance to go into the phone a bit, learn about what it can do, and went home with one. The video above should give you a general feel of how it looks and interacts with touch. It’s decent, but certainly no iPhone killer (and we obviously haven’t even touched the iPhone). Video playback is choppy and a bit slow at times. Call clarity is OK. The lack of a QWERTY keyboard is both stylish, yet annoying at times.

Look for a full review of the HTC touch in the next week. For now, this should be enough to hold you over.

  • the input looks kind of sketchy - in the video it seems like a few times he tried to navigate left/right or press an icon on the custom touch interface and it didn’t register the first time he did it. anyone else get this impression?

  • The HTC Touch is a better phone, scheduler, and emailer(push email). The Iphone is a better media phone, except you cannot watch live TV or add third party apps to it like the HTC Touch. It is somewhat of an Iphone Killer. If you are a business(or college) person then the Touch is for you because it has a to-do list and a scheduler! If you are a media person then the Iphone is for you. The only thing you can really compare them on is looks and technology because they were made to target two different groups.

  • The is to dograms the reason why it did not register is because he was not doing it right! you have to start from the side and do it. plus he was concentrating to see if the camera was focused. he wasn’t paying attention. The HTC responds very well. The is a 25 minute video comparing the Iphone and HTC Touch. It is very unbiased, it is the best comparison to date. To find it just go to google video and type Iphone vs HTC Touch.
