Teen Stabs PS3 Burglar With Samurai Sword

by Vince Veneziani on June 12, 2007

This is, without a doubt, the coolest PS3 story I’ve heard about in a long time. Two burglars broke into a Florida home and started to ransack the place. What they didn’t know is that Damian Fernandez and his 15-year-old sister Deanne were both home at the time. Deanne hid in her closet when she heard the robbers break in through her front door and watched the whole ordeal unfold in her room.

Damian was sleeping at the time but awoke and saw that the thieves took his empty PS3 box. Knowing they’d be back soon for the console, he grabbed a samurai sword he had and waited. When the burglar entered the room, Damian charged at him and plunged the sword right into the man’s chest. Freaked out and injured, both robbers took off with one escaping on foot and Damian chasing the other with a friggin’ samurai sword.

The thief was caught and arrested, but is currently out on bail – something the courts should not have allowed. Now Damian is a hero and anyone who feels the need to rob his house again should know they risk a chance of becoming impaled on a sword. Talk about the ultimate PS3 anti-theft device!

  • Hahaha…too bad that kid is probably going to get pwned soon. :(

  • NINJA GAIDEN SIGMA…in real life! :D

  • he did the right thing it cost him 600 euro

  • I need to get a sword! …and a PS3!

  • Yeah.

Except for that whole “you can’t defend personal property with lethal force” thing.

  • @Dave:
You are incorrect. Especially in Florida, many states have the “castle doctrine”, which dictates many things, including the fact that you are not obliged to allow someone to take your things. You have the right to defend yourself, your loved ones, and your stuff.

Plus, this is an easy one. Two, minors. Two adult thieves. They were the underdogs.

Way to go! If more thieves knew that we’d protect ourselves, maybe they’d only steal from each other.

  • In the good ole US of A if someone is burgling your house you are legally entitled to blow their head off if you so choose. They are violating your residence and are therefore fair game under home protection laws. Best security system in the world is the sound of a 12 gauge pump shotgun being racked. Swords will do in a pinch though.

  • Thief1: …A Hatori hanzo?

  • yea i got my shut gun on a save under my bed.
i live in florida too:west palm beach.

  • Damian is one of my homies. I’ve defended my self with my very own swords, but not agaisnt burglars; but people trying to mess with friends. And Trevor and Havoc have a point, they are violating your residence and are therefore fair game under home protection laws, so you DO have the right to do what he did.

    Props to you my man!

  • Many states are extending this ability to defend your home into the general open area. I know in GA you can defend your house and yourself ANYWHERE using deadly force. I have spoken to members of law enforcement and they have told me that as long as I think and can reasonably show that I THOUGHT my life was in danger, I have the right to use deadly force anywhere. I carry concealed and would have no problems utilizing this new law. The best part is that the more criminals know that they can be shot on the spot anywhere …. maybe they will think twice.. Then again, if they come in my house they have to get by the Rhodesian and Lab/Pit first anyways… yes, I am country.

  • .. i would have done the same thing.. i have my sword handy here too

  • Well, in the UK, theres a stupid law about only being able to rhetort with equal force… but personally i’d use my sword… fuck knows if its dark – i can’t see what they got

  • I sell Samurai swords in Birmingham UK. Here in England we have a saying, “an English mans home is his castle”, so as far as I`m concerned you should use what ever force you need to be it with a kitchen knife, sword or gun to defend your castle. Sod all existing laws because if my family were in danger I know what measures I would take to protect them. Fair play to those in Florida!
