Well, my 10 year has an iPod, but thats because this device is meant for his younger sister IMO. I purchased this for my 5 year old Daughter. What can I say, it was an instant hit.

It's large enough to not get lost, the dual headphones mean her and her friend listen on separate headphones, I showed her how to use the "shake feature" and she uses it all the time..

The speaker is handy for Dancing she tells me, she can twirl to Taylor Swift without her headhones falling out...

I paid $15 bucks for this thing and it's kept her dancing and playing for hours and hours.....

Great design, good battery life (low on the speaker obviously) and the Blue LED is a great touch, takes it up a notch for her (looks cool).

Too the poster above......

Sounds like your daughter needed an iPod all along, the only reason you'd look at this for her is if you were a tight wad with the cash....Simply too far below a 10 year old's cool radar and definitely not something you pull out at school at that age unless of course you wanted to be ridiculed or bashed.

We purchased the Sansa Shaker Christmas 2007 for our 3 and 4 year old girls; they absolutely love them!!! By the end of Christmas day they had figured out out to raise and lower the volume, how to advance and go back in songs as well as pause. I think they each have at least 30 different songs on them each.
And, as for downloading songs we haven't had any problems. This has been one present that was worth the money. It's the only one that they are both still playing with. They take them outside and listen to them. We have gone on trips, the girls just put their headphones on to listen to them.
I think for getting young children started on electronic devises this one is perfect!!!!!

This is definitely for the older kids. If you have younger kids, like 1 - 6 years, I would look at the SweetPea3 (www.sweetpeatoyco.com)
