The “in” thing to do seems to be ragging on the Nintendo Wii because it’s not as powerful as either the Xbox 360 or the PS3. (Sales numbers show that end-users really don’t care, though.) One of EA’s developers said that the Wii is only as powerful as the original Xbox.
It’s about as powerful as the original Xbox. The video hardware unfortunately is not as powerful…. Overall though it’s pretty much what the original Xbox was.
It’s clear that the developer wasn’t really harshing on the Wii here, but rather just making a well-informed observation. And yet, I’m sure the long knives will be out for him nonetheless.

I doubt it. Everyone already knows that and Nintendo isn’t pretending that the Wii is as powerful as the 360 and PS3. Whoever made this observation apparently just realized this which makes him seem a little slow. Yawn. We already know and yet the wii dominates the PS3 4:1 in the States in May. Hmm.

Obviously people don’t care, so why didn’t he just stfu? And EVEN FREAKING IF the Wii is only as powerful as the original XBOX, that still says alot about what Nintendo can do if they managed to make something so small, equal to something 4 or more times its size. I mean just look at the giant heap of scrap metal. If a Wii is as powerful as that, and it’s so small, I’m not complaing. Plus it doesn’t sound like a freakin jet engine when your playing. And besides! The original XBOX never had the technology that the Wii has for gaming. And from what I’ve seen of Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy, the games LOOK alot better than any of the crap the original XBOX ever had. And for Nintendo’s first online console, the Wii sure is alot better than the original XBOX was. Am I getting my point across? The people that make observations like this are stupid. If Nintendo wanted to make something as powerful as the 360 and PS3 they could have just done so. But really, I like that the Wii doesn’t make so much freaking noise like some kind of primitive console. And I like that the Wii isn’t a giant clunky freaking brick like the other two. The Wii is fine like it is. It doesn’t need to be as powerful as the other two. So could all you little haters out there please just kindly STFU!!!!

Too bad this guy fails at math. Wii is almost exactly 1.8 times a powerful as GameCube. GameCube is only slightly less powerful than X-box. Even though Wii lacks shaders, it is generally approximately 1.5-1.7 times as powerful as Xbox. This is a basic fact that this guy apparently missed. The fact that the Wii audience has no qualms about the console’s lack of power compared to the other two currently marketed systems makes what he said even more redundant.
I just want to see 2-3 years into the future, that’s all.

If Gamecube is more powerful than the original Xbox, and Wii is more powerful than Gamecube, than how could Xbox be more powerful than Wii?!?

2 be honest what a load of trosh! people who buy the wii dont give a ponyabout the graphics being inferior 2 360 / ps3. most just enjoy the games & that’s what it bolis down to – fun, fun , fun!!!! to be fair the gamecube had some amazing looking games:-take resi evil 4( which 4 me was the best game ever in its generation period) they were many other great games but resi 4 was the one that blew me away; the whole game was so well put together i just could stop playing the damn thing.
My point,is that the wii has sold shit loads (i still cant get 1-booo) and will continue to have some fun games.
personally i own the consoles & have great games tha r fun to play on all formats. people – just enjoy the games its about the fun & ENJOYMENT U HAVE……
