The Xbox 360 ordeal was not sanctioned by the company, and hundreds of individuals were laid off because of it.

On the other issue, yes there are 2 websites, a "local" website, and a "national" website. Part of our training, however, has us make sure to differentiate between the two. Once again, not sanctioned, and most likely a few individuals trying to look better in their manager's eyes. Also - promptly fired.

The truth is that no multinational corporation can completely manage what people do at a store level, but the company does take very seriously these types of issues.

Seriously, most of the people complaining about "bait and switch" are individuals looking for a $400 laptop on Saturdays (last day of the sale), and scoffing when we have run the day before or two days prior. These are the individuals that end up reselling them on eBay as well, just for the record.

You cannot predict how well a particular product in the ad is going to do, as it fluctuates week to week. Thus, we order product according to trends, and as the best stock brokers tell you, trends are not the end all be all.

I guess strictly speaking the PS3 is free, too bad the whole thing still costs $2000. If you're in need of a new TV though it was worth

Virtuoso,

I'd imagine they're referring to the xbox 360 ordeals.

Google for 'best buy bait and switch' and see what comes up :)

or maybe they're referring to this :
http://abcnews.go.com/Business/IndustryInfo/story?id=3209776

IANAL, but this article doesn't appear to be libel.

I work at Best Buy, and we do not ever "pull a bait and switch".

BaS is actually a legal term and prosecutable by law, Best Buy would have been convicted of it if they had done such a thing.

Also, while we are throwing out legal terms, ever heard of libel?

So you have to buy a 40" hdtv tv, ps3, bluray movie, and ps3 game to get the deal? And all they take off is the the price of the ps3? I guess that's pretty good...but give me the tv free instead of the ps3 and I'll be happy.
