Rock Band Fender Strat Unveiled

As a guitarist, Guitar Hero is both very fun and very annoying. It’s hard unlearning guitar to play a video game, despite how fun the GH series is. The next installment, Rock Band will feature a stunning, licensed Fender Stratocaster guitar controller. All I’ve got to say is that they really nailed it down this time around. The Gibson SG controller was mediocre, but this is a work of art!

Like other Guitar Hero controllers, it has colored buttons on the neck and features a pickup selector and three volume knobs like a true Strat does. I bet the feel is even like that of a Strat - smooth and fluid. I can’t wait to start ripping up licks on this thing and I’m sure you’re just as excited. For now though, you’ll either have to buy a real one or wait until it’s released. I bet lots o’ money could be made by releasing accessories like different-colored pickguards for these guitar controllers. You heard it here first!

Very nice, can’t wait to see the other instruments. Seems so far like it’ll be a pretty cool game

This thing is gorgeous! I believe the drum controller will actually come with a kick pedal! Is this guitar controller going to double for the bass controller too? I haven’t heard anything about the bass yet and if it uses the same controller as the guitar, that’s kind of boring imo!

Yeah, I haven’t heard anything about the bass yet either. I’m guess it’ll be similar to the guitar but larger, or it’ll be like a basic guitar hero guitar.

And yeah, it’ll be interesting to see how exactly they do the drums. I read it’ll have like 4 pads/drums. Left most being snare while the other 3 depend on the song (I think), and a pedal! Will also include wood drum sticks.

I haven’t seen anyone mention the fact that the new guitar’s buttons aren’t colored on the front anymore. According to the pictures on the article, only the sides of the button are colored. I could see this deterring new players. When I first started playing, I was always looking up at the neck to see which fret I was on. I think lowering the visibility of the fret could make it a tad more difficult.

On another note, though, I’m glad they did put in the buttons further down the neck. I can see that making really fast parts a good bit easier, and not to mention more realistic.

I heard the fret buttons lower on the neck were for solos, and that they’d be mostly hammer-on hammer-offs.

I also like the fact that they ‘lowered the visibility’ of the colored frets, more realistic in my opinion.

I don’t really like guitar hero all that much, maybe I’m just not a guitar guy, drums may be interesting though.

Your review makes it seem as if Rock Band is part of the GH series, which it isn’t. I’m really excited to try out the Rock Band drums, I hope they can take a beating.
