Take Two has “temporarily suspended” Manhunt 2 in response to the game’s ban in the UK and AO rating here in the U.S. The game was supposed to come out on July 10, but its publisher had to shelve it in order to “review its options.”

While I’m personally opposed to games that feature such wanton violence—oh, excuse me, art—I definitely feel for the developers in this case. But there’s no way that Take Two would release an AO game since an AO rating basically means it’s pornography.

  • I still don’t see what the big fuss is all about. What makes Manhunt 2 so different from the rest of the games that you have to kill to succeed?

And your sarcastic remark stating “I’m personally opposed to games that feature such wanton violence—oh, excuse me, art” is just rude and uncalled for. Don’t have to be a prick about it.

I still think Take Two/Rockstar should released the game as AO, keep it original. They could sell it straight off their site and I’m sure they’d make a lot of sells.

Also, with Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft not allowing AO games…it’s just stupid. In this situation, stupid for Sony and Nintendo. If just One of them allowed AO games, then Manhunt 2 and all future ‘AO’ games would become exclusives.

  • Booerns to MS, Sony, and Nintendo for not stepping up and allowing us ADULTS to play adult-rated games. I may not approve of some content, but that doesn’t mean a game manufacturer should get completely screwed for pushing the boundaries.

Hell, they released The Hills Have Eyes 1 & 2 remakes which are probably WAY more graphic than anything you’ll find in this game, yet the film was reasonably successful because people were given access to it.

I can’t fault ESRB for calling a spade a spade, but there’s a problem when the intended audience can’t even experience the medium.
