Looks like Alienware will never stop out-doing itself. This bad boy comes packed with up to two 512MB GeForce Go 7950’s using SLI and a slew of Core 2 Duos to pick from. Other options include a pair of 200GB HDD’s in RAID 0 for a total of 400 gigs of media-storing power. The 17-inch 1920×1200-resolution LCD is also sure to impress. Integrated b/g/n wireless, Bluetooth 2.0 and 7.1-chanel high-def audio is definitely making a few mouths water at CrunchGear HQ.

  • No. Alienware is essentially garbage. It’s nothing special – the specs of any Alienware machine can be gotten on any other manufacturer’s machine. Alienware is overpriced, and Alienware customer service is the absolute worst in the industry.

Don’t waste your money. A pretty case does NOT a super-PC make.

  • They used to be very good actually and yes you do pay more for the brand. But that can be said about everything except unknown brands. Alienware has always been good at releasing incredible desktop replacements. Also this isn’t out until monday ;)

  • Wow. It’s ugly.

  • Those aren’t even photos. They’re all renders. Look closely.

    • Its surface is polished nicely that it seems like rendered images rather than photos, but those photos are real. Alienware has been manufacturing desktop replacement (DTR) with unique appearances until now.
Although I cannot recommend the appearance as the advantage of this brand, but it sure affect the overall point of this DTR.

I don’t understand what Dell’s been thinking. Alienware is the subdivision of Dell who specializes in building high-performance computers (desktop and notebooks), and yet Dell itself still produce its own line of high-performance computers under Dell brand. Unluckily for Alienware, Dell’s product such as Dell’s XPS has a better appearance and a little more battery performance.

Nevertheless, Alienware still has its own market for gamers and multimedia enthusiasts which still needs the portability of a high-performance computer with upgradeable modules.

      Hooray for Alienware!

  • Second Andrew, you think they could have made it a little more sexy

  • It would look very nice in Batman’s batmobile or cave…
I own an Alienware Area 51 7500, the whole purchase experience was horrible, from receiving a DOA machine to incredible delays and false deadlines to several other mishapps, I even got a PSU that has no power switch with my shinny new PC, that wouold have been ok if it worked!
I finally got a good working machine but I wont do bussiness with AW again, txs but no txs.

  • Well i would liek to disagree with everyone elses comments… I ordered a m9700 for christmas i waited till the last minute and the had it to me early, (6 days earlier than expected) even after I called and changed my oreder specs.! 6 months later I crashed it (my fault.) I called them and they walked me through a few test and then had me send it in. I had my computer back 5 days after I boxed it up. They where freindly and helpfull.
I think alot of folks read teh bad reveiws that people post on the internet and geta bad attitude about the company before they have any experiance. High performance PC’s are gonna have some problems but it’s nice to deal with a company that will be around to fix them.
Since alienware has teamed up with dell their turn around is much quicker, but you can always expect delays, every pc is built to order. (be realistic people)

  • Best gaming laptop on the market. Full point.

The only questions you should ask yourself :
    a) do i play enough to actually need it ?
    b) do I have enough money to buy it ?

If answers are : yes and yes, then don’t look further : that’s your laptop.

  • I ordered the MALX for about $5500 when it was made available early last year. It’s fast as hell and looks great but it overheats soooo badly.

The m9750 will be even faster but I really hope they figured out a way to keep those monster vid cards cool.

  • I agree with Travis and Themis. I’ve ordered and recieved this exact model. Yeah I payed alot for it, but I’m a real power user covering gaming, audio production, 3d rendering, video editting, the works. This laptop is fantastic and AW’s support is no worse than anyone elses.

However, complain if you want if a) you are a computer retard or b) you expect the fastest and best to also be the cheapest (see a, you retard).

AW has my admiration. So it’s expensive. Did you actually want to trade in your Toyota Tercel for a McLaren F1?

  • AW has made one of the first 17″ SLI Notebooks, so sam, youre totally wrong!
You usually can only get power like this in a 20″ Notebook…
and all that with a BlueRay drive and two 250 GB Harddrives -its just a monster!

  • I am getting an alienware this summer, and i dont know if it is going to be good or not, i am hoping so though. i think it will be worth getting and not a waste of money, it is also not only for games all of those people if that is what you think. I believe that you are getting your moneys worth, and if u dont like it take it back and get something else. This super powered enginered machine is a beast and all those haters out there can shut up and go run on your slow intell laptop or something. I am not strecthing the truth and just being really honest with you all. If you are an alienware fan and have some things to say about it add me on msn.Thx

  • Alien ware isn’t just a computer company it is a statment. Just like a rolex. You can also get the very best you can get without shopping around. Because of the privelage of the logo the prices are put up. That being said Alien-ware computers go through a lot of checks etc before being sent to you so not all the extra cost is wasted.

  • I’m going to purchase my first AW laptop, this exact model with all the works excluding the blu-ray player. I do have real high hopes for it. And i do alot of travel since I’m in the Marine Corps and theres nothing worst then being on a ship for days in the middle of the ocean doing nothing but playing spades all day. so I’m hoping this computer will releave will help me with my bordom in those moments
