The chaps over at Computer Shopper rubbed their paws all over the Alienware Hangar18 HD entertainment center and it looks good, definitely worth the $3,199 you’ll be spending on it. Here’s a quick rundown on the specs to refresh your memories since I know you’ve been bombarded with iPhone coverage lately. The Hangar18 includes an AMD Athlon X2 4600+, 2GB of DDR2, two 1TB HDDs, double-layer DVD±RW/DVD-RAM optical drive, nVidia GeForce7600GS (256MB) and runs on Windows Vista Home Premium (feh!).

Pros
Gorgeous design; offers a complete environment for enjoying high-def television; plentiful input and output connectors.

Cons
Inconvenient optical-drive disc ejection; computing power is merely entry-level; doesn’t support unencrypted QAM.

Verdict
Built for the upscale mediaphile, the Hangar18 is a well-equipped PC for home media consumption. Just don’t expect too much from its computing side. 8.6/10.
