Kite + Nokia N95 = WTF

I’m usually not one to judge others, but there are certain instances where I question one’s sanity. This is one of those times. Crazy Norwegian Eirik and his brother-in-law decided to duct tape a Nokia N95 to a kite while vacationing in Denmark to see what sort of video footage they could get. A very cool experiment and the video speaks for itself, but you won’t catch me strapping anything I paid $700 for onto a kite. I wonder if they were on drugs?

Very nice that you liked the video. I can assure you. No drugs involved. Some Danish beer and a little bit of good wine, but no drugs. ;-)
And, we’re not insane. People sending a full Canon 400D with fisheye lens up in a Kite is insane:

All I could think about is how I would feel if I did that and the string somehow snapped as has happened with kites before.

We are sending our N95 up in an RC Airplane, and acquiring imagery which is overlaid in Google Earth using the GPS to geolocate the images automatically. Check it out!
BTW, We had some technical problems the other day, the plane fell out of the sky from what must have been 300-500 feet. The foam plane was destroyed!, but the N95 was still clicking off pictures when we retrieved it. Sturdy? You betya!
