I disagree with a lot of games on this list.. Where is Mortal Kombat? the first grat ever 1 vs 1 fighting game? where is Doom I if it even is still alive through Risen 3D gl port? How could be quake III better than quake II if it doesnt even have a storyline uh? And what about Konami's Contra in nes? I guess there is no old style gammers anymore.. It's not the adiction the game might cause it's the difference it made. just like PONG although it wasn't a lovely involving 3d game with lots of eyecandy and great storyline it was the result of the first pixels drawn as a game!
