I get the impression they intentionally want to sabotage this experiment by using an artist nobody's ever heard of. Then the record company can use this as a case study to announce "See? We didn't get a significant boost in revenue! Told you co-operating with p2p doesn't help our business!" I dunno about this - it smells fishy.
