Fight! Sony may have slashed the price of its PS3 yesterday by $100, but Nintendo isn’t worried at all. No, not only is Nintendo not worried, but it’s calling Sony out. Quoth the vice president George Harrison:
A $100 price drop won’t make a difference. Can Sony afford a $200 price drop? I don’t think so.”
I tend to err on the “$100 won’t make a difference” side, especially when you take into account that, right now, the PS3 has no exclusive games worth a damn. And while a $500 Blu-ray player is appealing, that new car smell is sure to wear off once you realize that, save for Planet Earth, the medium is being wasted. (Even worse, 300 for Blu-ray will pale in comparison to the HD DVD version.)
In closing, let’s wait until the first sales numbers come out before we all jump on the “Sony (still) sucks!” bandwagon. They’re just video game consoles, after all. No reason to get all bent out of shape.

Americans are NEVER happy with nothing, I knew it was a matter of time to before you hould keep complaining about PS3. I’m tired of you americans spoilled little brats! It’s not a matter of price but VALUE! Why is it so hard for you to see that?? Just think like this, X360 has a three years warranty because the hardware sucks, you buy one today, it dies one or two times in those 3 years, no problem because M$ fix it, but three years after it dies! What to do? Buy another one because you allready have the games? That will be more expensive than buy today a PS3 that just don’t die! I have a PS2 since launch and it still works flawlessly! When you buy a PS3 you are spending your money in quality! We in Europe pay €600 (about $800), do you see Europeans crying all the time because price? Microsoft will spend more than $1.000.000.000 fixing a failure hardware that is obsolete right now, it has graphics but no HDD in all SKU’s, no next-gen optical drive, no new ways to play games and has nothing that others can’t achieve (online services)… $500 for a PS3 is a bargain, in my opinion it should never be less than $700!
I don’t see Sony coming to public like Nintendo or M$ making this kind of “war speeches”, why?
Because they know that they might loose some battles at the begining, but the war will be won by the stronger, by Sony Computer Entertainment!

Blah – blah – blah- You fucking ps3 fanboys just aren’t gamers – I’ve had my 360 for a year now with no problems – and if it did break so what I would have bought another if there hadn’t been a warranty ext. Because I love games, and the 360 has great games that the ps3 doesn’t have. When the ps3 comes out with a game that I want I’ll buy it , no matter what it costs. But all you fanboys saying that blu-ray is necessary are fucking idiots – which is what sony was hoping for to win the hd format war. Oblivion was a huge game and it fit easily onto dvd – so spout that bullshit at some other dumb-ass that will beieve it.. And when mgs4 goes multi-plat dont be shocked. I owned all 4 consoles last gen and will own all 3 this gen (already own 2).

All you have to do to try and make an opinion like that sound like fact, is preface it with “we KNOW.” Sony’s exclusives are flying out the window. The only company that can truly rely on maintaining a vast number of exclusive quality titles is the one that makes their own best games: Nintendo. Katamari Damacy is just a sign of what is to come.
This American wonders what value there is in buying a console that runs mostly games available on a much more affordable console with its on exclusives. I don’t see an XBox red ring of death here. I DO have a COUPLE of broken PS2s. Am I whining about the price? Nope. I just don’t care. PS3 can cost $200 for all I care, I’m not buying.

Sony fans have been mocking us Nintendo fans for years (more so here in England when [pre-wii] it owned around 5% of the console market) but now with the success of the Wii what will Sony do? It has no 1st party games (and if it does they can’t be very good because I’ve never heard of any) and if it doesnt do something so all the third parties will begin to favor the Wii leaving the PS3 with mainly multi platform titles which will be the end of Sony’s PS department!

Truth is no manufacturer anywhere gets by without some type of manufacturing issues. Sony, who I love, is no exception. Do exploding Sony laptop batteries ring a bell, or Sony SRXD TV’s with color blobs mean anything. With modern electronics being composed of hundreds or thousands of parts originating from hundreds of manufacturers all over the globe, no end item is safe from a third tier shady manufacturer slipping in bad components.
But yes, I know Euro’s are accostomed to quality, lets see how that has panned out over the years, how about cars, Renault, Fiat, Jaguar, MG. Wow, just the oil leaked by these brands alone could solve the worlds energy crisis.
Or more to the point, how many top selling gaming consoles are made in Euro town by snot nosed Euro punks, … oh yes, zero.

Chuck, if you had paid attention to my post you would have realised that by 1st and 3rd parties I was speaking of the development of software however YOUR topic I would like to add that Nintendo put parts through far testing to make sure they are up to standard.
Ashley, I’d have to agree that Nintendo seems to put a LOT more effort in quality control (Those Wiimotes are almost indestructible as far as controllers go,) but I believe Chuck’s response was to MK24Ever’s comments about the Xbox 360’s high failure rates, not your comment on software – hence the seemingly odd tangent the comment seemed to take.
WTF…someone is actually trying to justify the massive price tag of the PS3? Ok, Euro-American…doesn’t matter. Who wants to pay a fortune for anything when they don’t have to? Yes, there are some issues with the360 but it’s still in it’s early stages. Sony has been in the game for awhile. The fact is that if you look at the overal pic…the 360 is a much better investment. Sony has nothing even close to the extras the 360 has. Can it link to your computer & grab your photos, videos, movies & music? Can you rent HD movies? Can you stream radio & news content? Let’s face it, Microsoft has more capability to expand on the 360 then Sony. Microsoft is everywhere which means your 360 will work with everything. What potential does Sony have…ok so it will work with my Sony TV & or Camera?
I’ve had a PS since they hit the shelves…until the PS3. Just not worth it. i now have a 360 hooked up to my 50″ plasma & have had no problems. it’s like having a complete media center in one box. Although I have to give it to Nintendo for stepping outside the norm & getting creative. Anyone who thinks they don’t deserve the success of the Wii is full of it.
