CrunchDeal: Sprint Employee Referral Plan Open to All

Those of you who are looking to ditch your current wireless provider would be hard pressed to find a better deal around than the Sprint Employee Referral Offer (SERO). The basic gist of the program is that if you’re a friend or family member of a Sprint employee, you can get a big fat discount on a new phone and line of service. All you need is the e-mail address of a Sprint employee and you’re good to go.
That’s where it gets a little tricky. Luckily, I’ve got an e-mail address for you. Feel free to use it till your pants are filled with discount cellphones. The address is savings@sprintemi.com and I have no idea how long it will work.
If it does work for you, you’ll get to choose from three plans. You can get 500 minutes for $30, 1250 for $49.99, or 2500 for $99.99 per month. Each plan also includes the following:
- Unlimited Sprint Vision or Power Vision (normally starts at $15/month)
- Unlimited Mobile to Mobile
- Unlimited Sprint Picture Mail
- Unlimited Roaming
- Unlimited Text (offer is supposedly ending on or around July 15th)
- Unlimited Nights & Weekends
- Nationwide Long Distance
- Voice Mail
- Caller ID
- Call Waiting
- Numeric Paging
- Three-Way Calling
Phones are dirt cheap, too. Sprint’s got the Motorola Q for $99.99, the Blackberry 8830 for $199.99, and the HTC Mogul for $288.99, to name a few. You can also get a wireless card and unlimited EVDO data for $49.99/month if that tickles your fancy.
You either have to be a new Sprint customer or an existing out-of-contract customer. You can’t switch your existing Sprint account over to the SERO plan, unfortunately. That being said, you might be able to save enough to justify the $200 cancellation fee. Enjoy!

Does this have the potential of getting you in trouble? Or is is legit? It seems like a sweet deal.

Wow - too bad my contract with crappy Verizon isn’t over until November… I’ve been eyeing a Treo with the Sprint data plan and for $30, that’s $20 less than the normal price per month!

That is a great deal. Wish my contract was up with sprint but have 9 months to go. Anyone else able to cancel their current contract and sign up with a new SERO?

This is the cheapest plan ever if u wanna get internet on ur phone. U can even use ur phone as a modem to get online on ur laptop. But there is NO UNLIMITED TEXT offer right now. They offered before but it has been expired. Hope they can bring it back soon.

Just like to know more details, if I have the Nextel phone, can I use that phone to join the plan, and what is the possible way to use it as the Internet modem.
Thanks.

I can’t find where you fill in the “out-of-contract customer” info. It says my plan expired back in 2006, but when I key in my phone number it says that it can’t transfer it over.
Boooo. What a tease.

hey, i was wondering where on a sprint website does it say that you get free roaming, voicemail, and free picture messaging? i found out where it says everything else like, free texting and nights starting at 7, but i cant find the free roaming, or picture messaging, and last time i was on the phone talking with one of the people, she asked me where did i find the information. so i was just wondering if anyone knew a sprint website that tells you exactly what you get on the sero plan.
thanks

According to the site you also get unlimited data with the plan. I took a screen capture of it when I signed up yesterday to make sure I have some proof just to be sure.
