		<description>Peter,

I'm worried about you, man. Maybe it's city living, maybe it's all the blogging, maybe it's the weather. But you seem to have just lost it - this wasn't a crunchgear post about potential new technology, this was a poorly written rant.

First of all, this is obviously not the worst patent idea ever. Even allowing for hyperbole, that's a pretty weak lede. All patents that rely on an as-yet-unrealized network effect are not bad ideas.

Second, the Zune is not obsolete. It's hard to even approach the reasons for that, since "obsolete" is just a patently inaccurate description, not unlike saying the Zune is "super-sonic" or "creamy and delicious." I think maybe what you were looking for was, "The Zune is a niche device." Or, "The Zune does not have and will not gain widespread use." Or more likely, "M$ is the SUX0RZ...lol, pwned!!1!"

Simply put, it's pretty hard for me to see how a device with around 1,000,000 sales in the last year or so and unique features that have yet to be replicated by any other player on the market is "obsolete."</description>
