Oh-kayyyy. That’s weird. A couple weeks after a round of layoffs, SunRocket allegedly sent out an internal e-mail today containing the following message…
Unfortunately this email contains very bad news. We have just been informed that any and all last ditch efforts to keep operations running as well as a potential sale of the company have not gone through and that SunRocket will cease operations at COB today. As such, today is my last day and everyone else you may have worked with at SunRocket. … Regarding outstanding and future invoices: Sherwood Partners out of Palo Alto will be handling the close down of all invoices, current and outstanding.
Thanks for the warning! As a (former) SunRocket customer, my initial panic is to figure out where I’m going to port my phone number; the number I give to everybody.
Does Sherwood Partners know how to port phone numbers? It sounds like a bunch of dudes who spend all day at the country club talking about remodeling their kitchens and how little Chad’s getting along as captain of the lacrosse team.
Here’s a comment on Om’s site from a SunRocket employee:
I just got laid off at the only call center SunRocket had. None of our supervisors or any management of any kind were aware this was happening until I decided to call the 800 number when we had no calls. There was no warning at all about this, not even the higher-ups of my center knew about this.
If you call the customer service line at 1-800-786-0132 you’ll hear “We are no longer taking customer service or sales calls. Goodbye.”
Goodbye indeed, I guess. More info to come as this story develops.
SunRocket is Toast, MEMO [GigaOM]

These jerks left those of use gullible enough to use their service hanging when they closed the doors this afternoon. I relied on them for phone service and now I’m scrambling to get another provider and hopefully port my number. I hope Visa will block the charge for my service since I didn’t have it 30 days even.
This is unbelievable news, especially for those of us just getting *in* to the VoIP business but emphasizing quality carriers. There’s no reason someone with cable should routinely experience warbly calls.
My company, Capalon Communications, has worked with Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP for years (aka LAMP), and after two years of VoIP research we have just launched OlehPhone.com.
Anyone savvy enough to know how to break into a SunRocket adapter and convert it over — and tell us how to walk the rest of the world through the process — gets at least three months of free service from us. Otherwise we’ll send you one of our adapters or routers for standard installation rates.
Please see http://www.olehphone.com/ for details. As of this writing there’s a small error on the confirmation page. As of opening of business tomorrow (9 AM EDT) you should be able to sign up straight through. If you’re impatient, send us an email to sales@olehphone.com. We will work with you to expedite LNP (porting your number).
Sorry for the blatant commercial nature of this comment — but we are sincerely interested in helping you and your readers out of this mess.
Try porting your numbers quickly while you still may be able to… A good company is Jivetel. They resell RNK Communication which is a phone company not just a voip company.

I switched to Viatalk 3 months ago. Thank God!!
O ok so if a service tha your usingm goes down then its a tottal traghidy… what about when they discontinued Beta tappes, I though that was stupid as hell. Or when they stoppped making 5 1/4 floppy disks? wha AM I gonna do now? all my stuff was on there ansd they dont evn make drives for those! Talk about fuced. O BTW, it’s spelled “Oh Haaaale Naiw!”
You can opt for Lingo as your next VoIP phone service provider. I am very happy with the services of Lingo. Calls are always clear, similar to landlines. Their phone bills are always much lower than what I expect to pay for each month and always manageable.
Lingo is offering promotional calling plans to former SunRocket customers such as monthly ChatterBox plan, annual Talk 365 plan and more.
All SunRocket(SR) Customer,
I was a SR customer, as I understand that SR played a bankruptcy game to the customer, it looks that they planned this game when they had a promotion for 199/yr plan, they rubbed the balance money on each contract from the customer, TeleBlend(TB) takes over everything from SR except contract, they just changed the company name from SR to TB.
Do you have any idea to handle this issue, it is not a small issue, it is a big, big, big, huge issue, it is related to 200,000 customers
We have to ask government to protect us to have it in fair, where is the government? where is the policeman? where is the lawyer? where is our congressman? did they know the issue or not?
Regards,
A SR Customer
