WHS

Windows Home Server software is heading to its OEM partners today, according to a post on the WHS team’s blog.

WHS is basically an easy-to-use server allowing households to store and share digital photos, videos, and documents between multiple computers. Backups can be automatically performed every night, storage is expandable, and files can be accessed remotely from anywhere.

Microsoft currently has agreements with six OEMs: Fujitsu-Siemens, Gateway, HP, Iomega, Lacie, and Medion. Hardware rigs should begin shipping this fall, starting at around $500 or so.
