tether

Hot damn, you can now tether your iPhone. That is, if you’re willing to get your hands a little dirty and aren’t afraid of doinking around with some network settings.

The basic process involves creating a SOCKS server on your iPhone, creating an ad-hoc wireless connection on your computer, and getting the two to smooch passionately.

This is great news for iPhone owners, although some would argue that this should be a standard feature offered by AT&T (for a fee, of course). I’ve no doubt that a simpler process will eventually come along but for you early adopters out there, have a blast and please let us know how it works out for you.
