The New York Times has reviewed The Simpsons Movie and the verdict seems to be that it’s decent; akin to a long episode.
Ask any die-hard Simpsons fan and they’d probably tell you that it would be impossible for such a movie to encompass every lovable facet of the show’s 18 seasons. I would think that this would be a good opportunity for Groening and company to make this the first in a series of Simpsons movies instead of saying, “Here’s the movie you’ve all wanted for so long. Hope you’re happy.”
Did anyone else see the movie? What did you think?
We’ll Always Have Springfield [New York Times Online]

I saw it on Friday and I must admit that I had very low expectations since I haven’t watched the TV series for over 1.5 years (although I can recite the other episodes from memory). The movie was better than I was expecting. I found many points where I was genuinely laughing and so was the rest of the theater.
It’s The Simpsons – it’s not going to be world-changing, deep-thinking philosophy, but if you look at it as a Simpsons show, I think you’ll find it enjoyable.
Mike
Good to know, Mike. I haven’t watched the show for some time as well. I was wondering if I’d still find it funny. Thanks for the comment. Seems like it’d be worth the money to see.
I saw it friday (not because I am a raged simpsons fan) and I enjoyed it.
I didn’t expect it to be much, but at least funny. And it lived up to that pretty well. It’s the kind of thing I would keep on my ipod alongside the South Park Movie.
the movie was very funny. i haven’t watched the series in a long time but i still enjoyed the movie. it was like a watching a really long episode on tv. i was laughing throughout the movie. it would be nice if they could make a new movie every year.

Watch the end credits :p
The movie was good – I would recommend checking it out at some point. I thought the “Itchy & Scratchy” and “President Schwarzenegger” parts were hilarious. The only problem I saw with it was getting alot of the characters “screen time.” Some of the characters you would expect to see more involved in the movie (i.e. Mr. Burns & Smithers)…
Sequel?
Saw it friday. Loved it. The theater was full and the crowd was laughing pretty hard throughout the whole show.
wasnt worth the money..years of hard work and they came up with that!!! wasnt funny only a few times
