iWork ‘08 went on sale yesterday and Apple has released a trial version out of the kindness of its heart. The free download is a little on the big side (468MB) but it’s the whole ham—for 30 days, you can use the software any way you see fit. Just don’t expect gigs worth of presentation templates.

Also, a little birdie told me that serial numbers to unlock the trial are already all over Usenet. That you’ll have to find on your own, however.

  • Wasn’t Apple against pie charts and tables and such? I mean, that’s what I got from the bazillion iHATE PC commericals. Always making fun of ‘PC’ because all he does is graphs and word processing.

A bit hypocritical of Apple don’t you think?

  • mark don’t be an idiot. oops! too late.

  • Ok, I’ll admit it, I have no idea how to use Usenet (or what it is). [hate comments begin now]. I know, I’m an idiot.

  • JC, don’t be a dirty cunt.

    INT3RWEBZ WAR, LAWLZ!

  • “First let’s see if it’s already on you hard drive.”

Thanks for the trial Apple – good that you got it up without waiting for the proofreader.

  • There was an interesting discussion on Apple’s own forums (certainly deleted by now) the last couple days about the new iWork.

It seems Apple was of course selling -and shipping from it’s online store- the old version right up until the new one was released. One user received the old version the day-of. If he inexplicably had not opened said package he could exchange it, but everyone else is out of luck.

I bought the old two weeks before the new, having heard no rumors of the impending upgrade and Apple’s attitude is that I am simply SOL.

In the old days, there would have been a grace period of at least two to four weeks but the good old days are dead and gone.

  • Yes. Apple really blew it with their customer relationship regarding iLife and iWork, selling the old product and not providing an upgrade for people who purchased in the past. I’ve been encouraging people to contact Apple and let them know that they need to treat their customers fairly. The lack of upgrade pricing is simply inexcusable.

And, yes, they deleted any comments complaining about the upgrade policy.

  • hi i enjoyed the read

  • I am trying to downlaod the trial and it is taking what seems like an unusually long time! Any comments
