Combo CD+MP3 Player Concept Puts Other DAPs To Shame

This is good. It’s a combination MP3+CD player, and, if it were ever released, I’d be all over it. To the untrained eye, it looks like a standard $50, no-name DAP that you’d find at Best Buy. Once you open it up, however, you’re able to stick your CD in between the two, uh, things, and it starts playing. More pics ahead.

Of all these designs I post, this one and the Mac tablet are my favorite. Someone needs to hire the designer so when can see some innovation in the DAP field.

Dual Music Player That Plays Your MP3 Collection & Your CDs [Yanko Design]

  • I would love something like that, the only flaw is that there is no portability when you are listening to a CD.

  • It also seems quite miraculous to me how you would have a moving laser diode in the DAP that is able to read the CD while playing. The point about concepts is that they don’t necessarily make sense according to current standards, and obviously this one is trying to address the fact that miniaturization (is that a word?) has long left the size of the medium behind.

What would be interesting is if this player would actually rip the CD onto the DAP, so that once it’s done reading the CD you can take it out, fold the DAP back together and carry the music you wanted to listen to with you without the CD.

  • That was my first thought as well…will it rip to the DAP? One day, I hope, in the not too distant future.

  • Looks like an interesting design. But wait a minute. Why would the thing have to fold out at all?
