Apparently, Best Buy is cheating money out of its customers. Big surprise there. Seems the electronics retailer is adding a $3 tax to any Xbox-related item due to the massive hype surrounding Halo 3. As you can see above, you can normally bag a 360 headset for $19.99. At Best Buy, it’ll set you back $22.99. Doesn’t make much sense does it?
Just go to Target or Circuit City and pick up a copy. Shorter lines anyway.
Is Best Buy Really The Best Buy [Gaming Today]

“tax”? Its called free enterprise. Perhaps you heard of it?
Yet another reason to head to the closest China Town to purchase electronics… I wonder if there is another motive behind this price increase other then profit.

On the pics, the Xbox side, items #12 & #32, they may be less, but Best Buy is offering free shipping! Which makes them cheaper in total. $3 for shipping is great.
I explored the Xbox site and they bounce you to another vendor’s site, like Amazon.com if you want to buy. One item I saw there offered Amazon’s Free Super Saver Shipping. There is a REASON why Amazon offers it free. It can take up to two weeks for the item to reach you. Read the fine print. You get what you don’t pay for. I’m not sure that Best Buy has the same practice, but what Amazon does on Super Saver shipping, they hold your order at their warehouse until there is enough items going to a distribution point nearest you and then move those items in a bulk shipment. If you catch the cycle wrong or there is few items going out your way, be ready for a long long wait. Never use this for birthday or Christmas gifts.
hmm, those best buy prices started may of 2007, sorry those prices were not changed the week of halo. goodtry though, better luck next time.
I missed that one. I did have a problem with some thing else over TG weekend. I found this site http://www.thefinalchallenge.com whose giving away money if people return their stuff. It all went back.
Geeksquad screwed up one of my computers. Still I have found myself going back there. I vought something at the thankgiving sale and had to pay more because of a mistake. I saw a site called thefinalchallenge.com. They are giving away money if people take their stuff back.
YOU THINK BEST BUY SUCKS…???
TRY BEST BUY OUTLET and 2NDTURN, ON EBAY!! Ran by dealtree.com,
Together both companies show off our country’s worst
customer service skills!!! They top the most rude and most unfriendly attitude towards the customer! And American Consumer!!
EBAY CARES little about anything other than how much money they make
off these classless clowns!! So EBAY IS also a BIG part of the problem!!
Dealtree employees will give you the same LOW “CALIFORNIA STYLE”
customer service that you get when you go to a Best (worst) buy retail store.
I bought a $1600 Sony flat screen TV from them. Got it home and opened the box and it was broken. Best Buy refused to exchange it or give me my money back. They said call Sony. Sony said we don’t do anything about broken TV’s go to Best Buy. Finally after 2 days, someone at Best Buy corporate said they would exchange our TV and they said they’d give us 10% off for the trouble. What a relief….until they called back and said they could not exchange it as there was no proof that they did the damage.
So now, I’m stuck with a $1600 broken TV? Finally, after 4 days and several managers later. We did speak with someone who said they could exchange it for us. I did finally get my tv exchanged, but never got this 10% off and had to pay $70 to have it delivered. They did nothing to make up for the 4 days of major hassle. During this entire time, I had to bring the TV to them twice, listen to them say that we broke the TV, and that they would not have possibly sold a broken TV.
Do not buy anything from Best Buy, if you do, check the box before you walk out of the store.
inside the Melville NY store, was not a matter of misunderstanding the store policy. Frankly they could have charged me a 10% restocking fee, and I would have left satisfied. I have never been treated like I was treated at the Melville NY store by this young woman named Geriann, who I understand no longer works there. Simply because I stated to her “I will never buy anything at this store again”, she told me if I did not like it I could get the F*** out of HER STORE. Frankly I was shocked that she would dare speak to me like this and when I asked her what gave her the right to do this, she said that if customers say ONE BAD THING about her store she has the right to throw them out of the store. Then, she told me I HAD TO SPEAK to the stereo guy about my broken transmitter. I was so shocked by this that I did, and I was escorted to the area, escorted like I could not be trusted. Come to find out that the reason she did this was so she could get this guy to state that I had broken it myself, which I did not. The story that this woman Geriann concocted was amazing, I guess since she knew I was going to call Corporate Customer Service, she had to get a way to cover herself. Since that day, I have never bought anything at a best buy store. I would no longer feel compfortable shopping there. I shut down my credit card, and none of my friends have bought anything there either. From what I have seen on the internet, and from the amount of claims against Best Buy with the consumer protection agency and the better business bureau, I am not alone. Best buy reputation speaks for itself.
I just filed a complaint with the BBB about dealtree. I encourage everyone else who has had a problem with them to do the same. Its easy and takes less than 5 minutes. If we all complain to the BBB we may be able to insight an investigation and possibly make change.
