I've also researched the CardioChek analyzer. For a few extra dollars, I purchased the CardioChek Professional unit from www.testsymptomsathome.com. The sales people at Test Medical were very knowledgeable of the product and the testing procedures. The CardioChek Professional unit allows you to test your HDL, Total, and Triglycerides, and calculated LDL with on fingerstick prick of blood when using the lipid panel test strip. I also recommend purchasing capillaries to help with the blood collection with either CardioChek Basic or Professional monitor.

I appreciate your review...very informative and clarified some of the question I had about the test strips. Specifically, I was confused between the check strips and test strips till I read your review. I bought a brand new CardioChek on ebay for $35 plus $10 for shipping.

Hi, just happened on this review. I had the Bioscanner 2000 (it's no longer supported) & upgraded to CardioChek & I feel it's more accurate not that their first meter was way off compared to the lab. Just did one comparison with CardioChek & lab (LabCorp) in January, '07 & the meter was just about 2% lower than the lab. I got 220 on the meter & lab got 224 total cholesterol.

I have found the strips at CVS and read that Walmart would have them, haven't looked. The great thing about CVS is sometimes you can use a CVS coupon (with their card) for money off if you buy enough. I highly recommend this meter IF you feel you need to check your cholesterol.

That's pretty cool! The price is somewhat reasonable as well although I'd like to see the strips cheaper to encourage more frequent use. For those of us who have issues with eating too much unhealthy stuff, this tester is just the ticket.
