Hmm. Who knew Wal-Mart was anti-DRM. The ginormous retailer of all that is craptacular and cheap is now selling MP3s for the low price of 94 cents a track or $9.22 per album. Hey Verizon, that’s about how much you should be charging for albums. Morons. Universal Music Group and EMI have jumped on board and you’ll be able to download tracks to whatever device you feel like downloading to. Too bad Wal-Mart’s online store isn’t compatible with Macs or Winows 98, ME, and NT. Idiots.

Nor do they let you use FireFox. Good design.
One nice thing I did notice about their stole once I opened it in IE is that they sell some albums for cheaper than $9.22 just like if you walked into a regular store you would find some albums cheaper than new stuff. It’s a much more realistic way of approaching things.
It’ll work perfectly fine on Firefox if you go to the old version of the store. Supposedly, you lose some “features” but it’s the same music. Since the DRM-free downloads are MP3s and not WMA, I bet the downloads would work on Mac or Linux, too.
Great find, Fred! I’m surfing the site fine in Opera on Linux now.
