I'm sure the insides aren't bad - a laptop is a laptop is a laptop - and PC Mag says it's OK: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2165068,00.asp

This looks like issues further up the supply chain which shouldn't effect average buyer.

I am currently in the market for a new laptop and have really been looking at the Dell 1720. But with stories like this it makes me want to look around a bit more. Can you guys suggest a good laptop. My wife and I hope to buy 1 for each of us in about 2 to 3 months and hope to spend around $2k each.

Any suggestions? Mostly use them for WiFi internet browsing (no paid plans - already have broadband in the home), multimedia (music, movies, photos, etc.) minor photo and video editing.

I will use mine more for the Movies, photos and general internet browsing.
