25 Minutes of Pure Killzone 2 Madness

Through the powers of Digg, I give you a developer video showcasing Killzone 2. You will buy a Playstation 3. This is the killer app for the console and not even Halo 3 can match this title’s graphics and gameplay. Fanfare aside, the developer from Guerilla Games speaking in the background points out some key features of why the PS3 is the shit when it comes to making badass games. He says that for the first level alone, 2GB is needed. Only a console with a built-in Blu-ray player could pull that off! HA!

Enter your birthday, grab some Doritos and enjoy.

I can never tell if you guys are serious or not haha.

This game will be no better than Resistance. Not a bad game…but no better than resistance.

The problem with this series it is a “me too” series. whenever you have “me too” games, they never turn out to be as good as the games they are trying to mimic. The first Killzone, tried to be Halo, and Killzone 2 is trying to be Gears of war. They don’t have the soul and heart that the games they are mimicking have.

I may be wrong, but not a system seller. buy a PS3 to play bluray movies instead

Looks amazing… even if it’s a “me too” type game. Now you ruined my bouts in Far Cry… no worries, new one coming out soon enough :-)

David, you’re missing the point…

‘Me too’ or not, it’s a bloody beautiful game. The graphics look amazing and the gameplay/controls look firm. The only other factor left is the storyline.

From what I’ve seen so far from both Halo 3 and Killzone 2, I’m personally much more excited about Killzone 2. Though, if I felt like playing something similar except multiplayer, I’d most likely go for Halo 3 instead. Although Unreal Tournament is coming out soon…so I may want to play that instead.

You talk about ‘me too’s’ being a bad thing, but if games weren’t made by using ideas from other successful games, then the industry would go nowhere. Developers make their games by knowing what does and doesn’t work. If they know it works, of course they’re going to use it. And with that, since they know it works, they get a lot more time to improve on it that the previous ‘original’ didn’t have.

I agree that it may not be a PS3 seller, but it’ll definitely help.

(Oh, and buying a PS3 to play bluray movies instead, also a brilliant idea! I hardly watch anything but bluray movies now)

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying this game looks bad or will be a bad game. I really don’t think Halo3 will be as great as we all think. (Bioshock and Crysis FTW!!!)

I think the game looks cool, and I plan on buying a PS3 to play Bluray movies. I’ll probably pick it up. What threw me of is the original post. Vince was a little excited, a little more excited than the game probably deserves at this point. maybe he was being sarcastic and I missed it hehe.

Ha, you can never tell with these Crunch guys!

(I personally don’t think Halo 3 will live up to all the hype either)

Vince is just bitter because almost no one in the world agrees with him that the PS3 is “teh shit”. This game isn’t going to do it either. Even if it is marginally better than Halo 3, Halo already has the mindshare as Event Game. I seriously doubt that there’s a game out there that’s going to get the mass market to drop half-a-grand on a console.

Looks great, but plays like all the rest. Visuals only get you in the door and lend to the immersion and viability of the other game mechanics. That alone won’t sell a million copies….mind you this title likely being the one of PS3s only decent shooters, maybe it will.
