There you are, folks. That’s the OS X Leopard welcome movie that you’ll be watching in the next few weeks once Leopard is launched. The new OS is sure to cure cancer, AIDS, and IBS, so you might as well go buy an iMac right now.
Click through to see previous versions of the video — just to see how things have improved in the CG department in Cupertino.

Panther
The Panther video they should have used.

What am I missing, Macheads?

The video is not available anymore, can someone repost a different location, I’m sure it’s cached somewhere on the interwebs…

I think I have the System 7 Performa intro somewhere on my cluttered HD. It’s of a cartoon guy walking around and making music on his computer, the musical notes fill the whole house, and makes the outside light up with fireworks. Sorta cheesy, if you think about it…

You forgot 10.0 to 10.2, it was on YouTube but I can’t find it anymore.

Where’d that “Panther video they should have used” video come from, and what’s the music that’s playing? Is it also by Royksopp?

The 10.3 intro video music was a spliced version of Royksopp’s Eple.

Shoulda just used Also Sprach Zarathustra (theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey), but maybe that’s too cliché — or dated — by now.

The “Panther they should have used” showed up in the developer versions of it, but was pulled just before release. A damn shame, as it was much better than what shipped.
However, the video for Panther above doesn’t match the one I have - it’s the same music and general style, but the various “welcome” translations flash in and out with a lot more pizzaz than a simple flyby.
And all of these YouTube and similar versions of the Leopard video don’t do it justice at all. Here’s a super high-quality version, that sadly has no audio track:

Interesting note about the 10.3 video, Royksopp’s song “Eple” was used. Eple, translated from Norwegian into english means apple. Nothing earth-shattering, but I smiled when I found that out.
